Ambassador S. Lionel Johnson is the visionary founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the Liberia National Wheelchair Basketball Federation (LNWBF). Based in Montserrado County, Liberia, he has dedicated his life to promoting inclusive sports and empowering individuals with disabilities through wheelchair basketball.

Established to foster the growth of wheelchair basketball in Liberia, the federation under Ambassador Johnson’s leadership has organized numerous tournaments, including the first-ever mini-wheelchair basketball tournament in 2021, which even featured an official kickoff by Liberian President George Manneh Weah. His efforts have focused on rallying government and humanitarian support to enhance opportunities for disabled athletes in the country.

Ambassador Johnson has been instrumental in events such as the Rabbi Buju Warriors winning the wheelchair basketball championship and has actively advocated for better resources and recognition for disabled sports. In 2024, he addressed administrative matters within the federation, demonstrating his commitment to integrity and progress.

As a passionate advocate, Ambassador Johnson continues to inspire thousands by emphasizing that “We Can Do Better” in supporting disabled athletes. His work has not only built a national federation but also created a platform for empowerment, community building, and athletic excellence in Liberia.
